In a computerized, globalized, terrorized, and commercialized age of anxiety I seek solace in craft and the intimacy of making material objects out of clay. As such, my work is loaded with my emotional states. The vessel carries metaphors for my subconscious world of affection, isolation, joy, melancholy, aggression and love. I reference decorative arts, narrative ceramics, domestic craft, and graphic arts to turn every-day objects into signifiers/containers for my subconscious. Imagery, text and symbols transform my objects into souvenirs from this interior world. Their surfaces carry projections of a journey to introspection and whimsy.
